Antique Sterling Needle Case Chatelaine

Antique Sterling Needle Case Chatelaine

Striking antique Victorian sterling needle case holder, possibly worn as part of a sewing chatelaine. I find the Fleur de Lis motif striking. Fleur de Lis was popular in the Victorian era and meant “flower of the lily” and also symbolized prosperity. It also was used in the religious and political realm. The back of the needle case has the initials “RJH”.

The needle case measures 3″ long including the bale and is 1/2″ wide. It is hallmarked “Sterling” with a four petal flower on the back.

The needle case may, at the discretion of the buyer, need to be cleaned. I personally love the dark patina. Other than a tiny black mark on the back of the case, in wonderful condition.
