I may be a tiny bit late in announcing this, but Pantone chose their color of the year for 2010 as turquoise. Why turquoise? Here is a little excerpt from Pantone and one of the reasons why they chose turquoise.
“In many cultures, Turquoise occupies a very special position in the world of color,” explains Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. “It is believed to be a protective talisman, a color of deep compassion and healing and a color of faith and truth, inspired by water and sky.
As for me, the color turquoise is calming, serene and just plain gorgeous! It looks great incorporated in jewelry, especially vintage. It also complements many other colors and because of this, turquoise jewelry can be worn year round.
